Comprehensive backup options

Optimized storage capacity utilization

EonNAS 1000 ensures you get the most out of your available storage capacity. EonNAS 1000 comes with inline, block-based data deduplication, a feature often seen only in enterprise storage solutions. Duplication calculations are performed as each new data block enters deduplication-enabled volumes. When the system sees that an identical block is already present in the volume, the new block will be discarded and only a pointer will be created for reference to the existing block. By removing duplicate data blocks, the technology offers storage space savings of around 90% in backup applications, 70% in virtualization environments and 40% for common office files. When conducting real-time data replication, implementing deduplication on the primary system can greatly enhance replication efficiency.

Optimized storage capacity utilization

Robust data protection

Core business assets are protected with robust, enterprise-class features. EonNAS 1000 features RAID protection, which ensures data stays intact even during simultaneous failures of up to two disk drives. When a drive failure occurs, a pre-assigned hot spare will be automatically leveraged to rebuild the original RAID configuration. In addition, disk drives are hot-swappable, meaning they can be replaced without disrupting your applications on the EonNAS 1000 system. In rare cases of system failure, you can quickly restore services simply by removing the drives on the old system and putting them into the replacement system. After initial setup, all your data and settings can be recovered.

The embedded ZFS file system ensures end-to-end data integrity through a hierarchical checksum mechanism. When a data block is created, a checksum of this block is stored in its parent block pointer. Whenever a block is accessed, its checksum is calculated and compared with the stored checksum value for integrity. This unique mechanism allows EonNAS 1000 to effectively detect data corruption phenomena that go undetected in other file systems, and automatically repair affected data with ZFS self-healing features.

The snapshot feature helps you deploy multiple recovery points for iSCSI volumes or shared folders at minimized time intervals and space requirements. In the event of human errors or virus attacks, you can quickly restore data with the snapshot copies. Based on user-configurable policies, EonNAS 1000 will automatically remove snapshot images when the number of snapshots or their retention period exceeds pre-set thresholds.

Remote replication offers scheduled data replication to another EonNAS 1000 system or third-party device via the rsync protocol. In addition, the pool mirror function supports real-time replication that keeps data in two different EonNAS 1000 systems synced at all times, ensuring that a standby system can seamlessly take over operations when the primary goes down.

Robust data protection

What is ZFS?Features:

What is ZFS?

ZFS is a combined file system and logical volume manager. The features of ZFS include data integrity verification against data corruption modes, support for high storage capacities, integration of the concepts of file system and volume management, snapshots and copy-on-write clones, continuous integrity checking and automatic repair.

Efficiency

Explosive data growth in recent years has created a new set of challenges for businesses of all sizes: how to efficiently process all this data with limited budget resources? The new EonNAS reduces your primary storage footprint using inline deduplication and compression.

Data Deduplication
EonNAS offers inline, block-based deduplication. Duplication calculations are performed as each new data block enters deduplication-enabled volumes. When the EonNAS sees an identical block is already present in the volume, the new block will be discarded and only a pointer will be created for reference to the existing block.

Data Deduplication

Data Compression
SMBs can take advantage of data compression technology on the new EonNAS. Supported on both shared folders and iSCSI volumes, data compression on EonNAS is achieved with the LZJB algorithm, offering lossless and low-overhead compression.

Data Compression

Thin-Provisioning
Capacity utilization is further enhanced by Thin Provisioning technology. By dynamically allocating capacity to applications on an as-needed basis, EonNAS Pro series eliminates pre-allocated yet unused data volumes and simplifies storage resource management.

Reliability

EonNAS minimizes business loss caused by downtime and data loss with unlimited snapshot, pool mirror, remote replication, corrupt data self-healing and RAID protection. It also makes businesses compliance-ready with the robust WORM (Write Once, Read Many) technology.

Unlimited Snapshot
The snapshot feature available on the EonNAS can be used to protect shared folders, iSCSI volumes and system settings. EonNAS supports an unlimited number of snapshots at intervals as short as 10 minutes. In addition, users can automate processes including snapshot creation and pruning. Snapshots will be automatically removed when they reach thresholds in terms of total number of snapshots or retention period.

Unlimited Snapshot

Pool Mirror
To mitigate a disaster’s impact on business continuity, data loss and downtime have to be minimized. The built-in pool mirror function on EonNAS helps users perform real-time data replication between two different EonNAS. When the primary system goes down, the standby system, which features the same data, can seamlessly take over services at minimized downtime.

Pool Mirror

Encrypted Remote Replication
AES 256-bit Data Encryption and CHAP authentication ensure EonNAS only can be accessed by authorized key and encryption passwords. This prevents your sensitive business data from being stolen by unauthorized breach or access. Even when processing remote monitoring/backup, EonNAS offers Encrypted Remote Replication by Rsync (with 128-bit SSH) to make sure the end-to end data security.

Encrypted Remote Replication

Corrupt Data Self-Healing
End-to-end data integrity requires that each data block be verified against an independent checksum. ZFS uses its end-to-end checksums to detect and to correct silent data corruption. If a disk returns bad data transiently, ZFS will detect it and retry the read. If the disk is part of a mirror or RAID group, ZFS will both detect and correct the error: it will use the checksum to determine which copy is correct, provide good data to the application, and repair the damaged copy.

RAID Protection
EonNAS features RAID protection, which ensures data stays intact even during simultaneous failures of up to two disk drives. When a drive failure occurs, a pre-assigned Hot Spare will be automatically leveraged to rebuild the original RAID configuration. In addition, Disk-Roaming Design enables disk drives be moved within an array, meaning when there is a need of system replacement, the hard drives within an array could be intact transferred to another EonNAS system and be automatically recognized without hard drives re-building concern.

RAID Protection

WORM (Write Once, Read Many)
The WORM function prevents data from being edited, overwritten, corrupted or deleted until a retention period has arrived. WORM addresses the five elements of regulatory compliance: data integrity protection, data accessibility, data auditing, data duplication and data migration. EonNAS features secure data storage with flexibility to store both compliance-based WORM data and normal data for archive.
